Meet Rachel

Rachel, the Amana Birth owner, posing for a picture in Lebanon, TNMy journey into birthwork started long before I had the language for it. I was raised by a mother who was OG “crunchy”; cold-turkey vegan, birthing her last two babies with midwives and doulas after two C-sections. Long before any of it was trendy, she was modeling autonomy & faith in health, birth, and motherhood. That planted a seed in me that challenged generational patterns and helped defined womanhood for me.

In college, I was the pre-med friend always talking about plant-based living and holistic wellness. I organized programs and built community wellness. Even before I had ever met someone who homebirthed, I felt drawn to it. On my very first unofficial date with my now-husband, I told him I wanted to homebirth and homeschool my future children—partly to scare him off. His smile only grew and he said something like, “Same.” We’ve been married seven years now.

I’ve always been a connector and caretaker at heart. While earning my CNA credential, I found deep joy in simply being present—listening, tending, supporting. And while pregnancy and postpartum aren’t illnesses, they are undeniably some of the most vulnerable and transformative seasons in a person’s life. Helping women and families feel seen & supported is something I was made to do.

In 2021, I walked alongside a close friend during her first birth and postpartum, and something clicked. For years, I thought I was being led toward a formal medical degree, despite the gentle nudges from the Most High saying otherwise. But supporting her brought me home. To my mother’s story, to the quiet legacy of midwives and doulas in my lineage, to the significance of birthwork. I realized I wasn’t just interested. I was being called.

And so, I’m here—honoring the calling, walking in the legacy, and holding space for those ready to journey with Amana.
